Ms. Maldonado worked as a reporter for The Naples Daily News\, The Associated Press and the Miami Herald\, where she was a member of the Pulitzer Prize team of reporters\, editors and researchers awarded the top prize in journalism for the coverage of local city elections that were overturned.\n\nMs. Maldonado served as communications director for the Human Services Coalition (now Catalyst Miami)\, a Miami nonprofit that launched an initiative to promote the Earned Income Tax Credit and free tax preparation to lower-income families in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. She also spent time as a communications coordinator for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.\n\nPatricia has also taught mass communications at Miami Dade College. She was a member of the WLRN Community Advisory Board and served as chair of the City of Miami Community Relations Board\, a volunteer group that works to foster mutual understanding\, tolerance\, and respect among the city’s diverse populations. She gives DIY PR workshops for SCORE chapters in Broward and Palm Beach counties\, as well as help with their PR and social media strategies.
