The presentation will start with a general overview of different entities\, for those looking to start or maintain an organization. It will then focus on key provisions in Michigan commercial lease agreements to help attendees better understand them prior to execution. \nTopics covered will include: \n• Entities 101 and Independent Contracting \n◦ What is an entity\, and which entity is right for you? \n◦ What do you need to know to work as an independent contractor? \n• Social Enterprises 101 – how to benefit your community and make money \n• Corporate Transparency Act – what does it mean for small businesses\, such as your community care organization\, therapy practice\, and consulting firm? \nPresented by student attorneys (under the supervision of experienced and licensed attorneys) in the Wayne State University Law School Business and Community Law Clinic (BCLC). The BCLC provides free legal services to qualifying community-based businesses as well as for-profit and nonprofit organizations that aspire to create social good and impact to revitalize Detroit and Michigan.
