DESCRIPTION:The IDRS Acorn Project is hosting a free live online workshop for artists and craftsmen who are interested in learning how to sell their goods through Etsy.  Etsy is the leading global marketplace for selling handmade and vintage goods to more than 40 million customers. IDRS has created the Etsy Craft Entrepreneurship Workshop for Native artists/crafters that are looking to expand their customer base beyond the boundaries of their own community and sell to consumers world-wide. \n \nThe course is taught by award-winning Cherokee artist\, MaryBeth Timothy.  MaryBeth and her husband operate MoonHawk Art LLC\, an art business located in Muskogee Oklahoma which specializes in Native American and wildlife art. \nMaryBeth creates new original art and through sublimation printing\, offers her and her husband’s images on a variety of items\, such as ceramic decorative tiles\, coffee mugs\,  cuff bracelets and t-shirts.  While MaryBeth primarily sells through venues such as gift shops and art markets\, she has been able to expand and reach a worldwide market through her Esty store. \nThe Etsy class will take place over four 2-hour sessions.  The first session will be on Tuesday\, February 2nd at 11:00 am Pacific / 12:00 pm Mountain / 1:00 pm Central.  There will be a session at the same time on Wednesday\, February 3rd; Thursday\, February 4th; and Friday\, February 5th.  The workshop is free and open all entrepreneurs. \nThis workshop will be delivered online utilizing the Zoom platform. SUMMARY:Teaching Youth Entrepreneurship
DESCRIPTION:Do you work with youth\, would like to work with youth or have a young person that you would like to influence in a positive way? Many of today’s youth rarely receive information on how to work toward economic stability while pursuing a small business through\nentrepreneurship. \nIn this webinar\, participants will learn the 10 basic principles of teaching youth entrepreneurship\, with a high-level view of each of each principle. \nThe workshop will take place on Thursday\, March 11th at 9:00 am Pacific / 10:00 am Mountain / 11:00 am Central. The workshop is free and open all entrepreneurs. \nThis workshop will be delivered online utilizing the Zoom platform. The workshop can be taken on computers and smartphones. \nAbout our presenter:\nCamille Koster (Cherokee) serves as the Youth Program Manager for the IDRS Acorn Project. Through the program\, she teaches youth how to explore entrepreneurship and create side hustles which provides them the opportunity to make money while continuing to focus on their education . She has worked in youth development and in nonprofit for the last 18 years\, both writing and facilitating camps across the nation. She has co-facilitated camps with the Drug-Free Communities National Initiative\, Students Working Against Tobacco\, Cherokee Nation Behavioral Health\, ONABEN\, the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse\, and more. Camille dedicated five years of her youth development career as the Chief Operating Officer of Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma. She successfully assisted in one the largest youth entrepreneur programs as she helped build strategy and infrastructure for a cookie sale campaign that led to her local Council selling over 1 million boxes of Girl Scout Cookies in Eastern Oklahoma.\n​\nCamille is a United States Navy Veteran and is proud to have represented the Cherokee Tribe in the military. During the time she served\, only 15.4% of the military was comprised of Native American members\, likewise\, only 4% were female members. She has a Masters Degree in Organizational Management. Camille lives in Jenks\, Oklahoma\, is married to a Firefighter and has three children. \nThis workshop is being funded in part by the USDA Rural Development\, the Small Business Administration\, and the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development.
