BNB Properties started when two friends decided that they wanted to start developing Airbnb destinations. Airbnb is a popular travel option where guests choose to book their stay in a rented home or apartment instead of staying in a traditional hotel or motel. From bachelorette parties and beach trips to family gatherings and silent retreats, Airbnb offers a more private and local option verses chain hotels or hospitality groups. According to the Airbnb, the company has hosted over 2 billion guests since 2007 and that number is only growing.
BNB Properties’ new Airbnb location will target vacationers at Lake Tenkiller. This is one of Oklahoma’s bustling bodies of water and is considered a hidden gem among the locals and frequent visitors. Located in far eastern Oklahoma, this location will offer a space where guests can connect with the natural elements away from the big cities for fishing, boating, and relaxation.
BnB Properties offers an above and beyond experience for its visitors while at Lake Tenkiller. The amenities feature many outdoor attractions like a hot tub, fire pit, bikes, and water toys. Guests will have a chance to step away and connect with nature in a new way.
Like most ventures we participate in, there come trials. Not everything flows the way you think, or something goes wrong and you must navigate the waters. This project had some mounting waves during the process. The most challenging wave was when their general contractor broke his leg midway through the project. This forced them to take a more active role in outsourcing and supervising a lot of the work themselves. If you’ve ever built a house, you know that builders have different ways of doing things. You aim to build that relationship, and they begin getting a feel for how you prefer things. BnB Properties lost this layer of protection and guidance.
There came a point where they had spent all they wanted to out of their pocket. The LLC explored all possible avenues to complete this project with no luck. They then reached out to the Citizen Potawatomi Community Development Corporation (CPCDC) and applied for the commercial loan product that we offer.
According to Whitney Baze, “We were at a stalling point and used all our resources.” She went on to say: “The CPCDC and their staff went above and beyond helping us complete this project and the staff there really provided that family like feel during the whole process.”
At the CPCDC we’re driven to serve and assist Native Americans in the development of their business. The main goal is to equip our clients with the right tools for success before, during and after the process of participating in any of our products. If you have any questions about the services, we offer or want to apply for a loan visit www.cpcdc.org or call us at (405) 878-4697.
